271 previously unknown pieces of work by Pablo Picasso have been revealed in France worth an estimated 60-million-euro.
A retired electrician who worked for the Málaga artist has come forward with the collection after approaching Picasso’s son Claude to get the works authenticated. According to the French newspaper Liberation, the 71 year old worked for Picasso in the 1970’s installing a number of burglar alarms at the artist’s French properties. Pierre Le Guennec told Liberation he was given the works, which include nine cubist pieces worth around 40-million-euros alone, by Picasso himself.
However, the treasure trove has been seized after Claude Picasso filed a complaint alleging receipt of stolen goods. The artist’s heir told the French newspaper that his father would never have given away such a large quantity of works to any one person.
