MEDICAL RECORDS DUMPED
A statement from PP deputy and Jaen mayoral candidate, José Enrique Fernández de Moya, reports that patient medical records and health documents were found last week piled on top of each other in the public areas of the Ciudad de Jaén hospital.
The records were clearly visible and available to the public with absolutely no security. Any passerby had access to what are essentially the private notes of hundreds of hospital patients.
Moya said he was disappointed to find among the medical reports “patient data on all types of diseases, family history of patients with their names, addresses, telephone numbers and ID card information.”
He also noted that the documentation left in piles on the ground, was marked up in folders and boxes clearly identifiable as medical information with the logo of SAS printed on the sides of the cartons. “This is a situation which is most unfortunate, as it reports on patients with sensitive data. It is unacceptable that these papers are just lying around available to anyone who might care to show an interest.”
