U3A Fuengirola – Monthly Lecture (March 2012)

The subject this month will be “The Indian Mutiny of 1857 and the Legends that emerged”. It is to be held in the Hall of the Ark Christian Fellowship, at Las Rampas, Fuengirola on Monday 26th March 2012. This will be the last lecture for our academic year 2011/12 and we all look forward to the next lecture in October 2012.

The Lecture will be given by Chris Beckett, who will tell us all about the myths, the savagery and the misconceptions of the Mutiny.

He will explain why the Indians suddenly rose up and slaughtered their English masters. And tell us of the horrors of Delhi, Cawnpore and Lucknow. He will tell us of the role of women, and what the playing fields of England brought to the mutiny!

He will tell of the Terror, Ineptitude, Selfless Bravery and Stiff upper lips!

This Lecture MUST NOT is not to be missed.

Doors open at 16.00 and the talk will commence at 16.30 for approximately an hour.

Attendance is Free to members, and a small charge of 5 Euros is charged to non-members.

These talks are for you to really enjoy, and to give you an opportunity to meet like-minded people and possibly becoming a Member. Joining is only 25 Euros for October through May each year or 15 Euros for January through May of that year.
