TWO KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN LAS NORIAS DE DAZA

Two people died and three were seriously injured following a car accident that occurred last Tuesday on the road linking the nuclei ejidenses Las Norias of Daza and St. Augustine yesterday in the road linking los núcleos ejidenses de Las Norias de Daza and San Agustín. The damaged vehicle skidded off the road and slammed into a telegraph pole. The five occupants, aged between 30 and 50, are all believed to be immigrants.

A spokesman said that the accident occurred at about four o’clock in the afternoon and although the incident was attended by the emergency services, the fire brigade, Guardia Civil, policia local and an ambulance, paramedics could do nothing for one individual who was dead at the scene. Two of the other injured were found to be in a serious condition and were taken to the Hospital de Poniente de El Ejido where one died shortly afterwards. The other two occupants were transferred to Torrecárdenas Hospital, where they continue to be in a serious condition.

The Guardia Civil are currently investigation the accident but at this stage are unable to offer any cause. According to sources the destruction of the telegraph pole belonging to Sevillana Endesa could see potential electrical problems in the area.
