ARCHITECTS CHOSEN FOR LATEST ROUND OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Currently at the design stage, 31 companies and professionals had presented their tenders to act as project architects.

The thirteenth round of development of affordable housing, to be built on behalf of the Municipal Housing Company, will consist of 27 homes, shops and garages, and is to be built on a plot of land just off the motorway and airport facilities, adjacent to Carrefour.

Currently at the design stage, 31 companies and professionals had presented their tenders to act as project architects. Last week it was confirmed that the company of Jesus Salas Torres Architecture Studio had been selected.

Almería’s CEO, Paul Venzal, said the next step is for the architect to submit his final drawings which will then be put before the Executive committee of the Municipal Housing Company for their final approval.
Once that step has been achieved the project will be entered for provisional license and qualification as a prelude to the bidding of the work.

Venzal said that a large number of companies and professionals have already indicated that they will be seeking to carry out the building work.

Meanwhile the mayor, Luis Rogelio Rodríguez Comendador, said that he continues to be committed to the continued increase in the supply of subsidized housing in Almeria and that he will continue to endeavour that any homes provided will be in the best of conditions.

This new development will be built on municipally owned land that has an area of 626 square meters and a building area of 3,085 m2. If the municipal forecast for this development is correct construction should get underway in early 2013.

To date the city of Almeria, through the municipal housing company, has completed nine developments in different areas of the city, which involved the construction of 713 homes, all of which are now in the hands of their respective tenants, who were all selected by lot.

But the most ambitious project undertaken by the company since its incorporation is still under development, the second phase of residential properties “La Solana” in Costacabana where 132 homes will be added to the 137 already completed.

For the popular mayor, recent developments show a firm commitment to the government team’s efforts to their social policy, in this case to housing.

With over 1,000 homes built or under construction, the Municipal Housing Company, is becoming one of the main promoters of social housing in the province, a position that has allowed many families in Almeria access to quality housing at affordable prices.
