ROAD UPGRADE AROUND CUEVAS DEL ALMANZORA

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment has started work on the improvement of six municipal roads around the Cuevas del Almanzora, which altogether account for 3.6 kilometers of length, and a budget of 206,487 euros.

The works are part of the Encamina2 plan, a comprehensive plan launched by the Ministry to respond to the demands of farmers.

The roads to be improved are: La Hoya (82 meters long), Calguerín (1,482 meters), Calguerín from the Almanzora River (523 meters), Los Silos-Rio Almanzora (308 meters), La Cunas- Río Camino Lorca (595 meters), and Camino Los Campos (662 meters).

Each of the road surface areas will be improved, in some cases to include a surface treatment of asphalt.

All of the work will be carried out directly by the Andalusian government, without cost to the municipalities in whose regions the roads are situated.

In the last legislature, the Government worked with Cuevas del Almanzora in improving almost 6 kilometers of rural roads of Cuatro Higueras, Pocicos and Finca Olivos with a public investment of more than 330,000 euros, of which the Board provided 250,000.

Between 2008 and 2011, the contribution of the Government of Andalusia to improving municipal roads throughout the province has been around 19 million euros.

Thanks to these initiatives, according to a government spokesman, farmers will now find it much easier to access their farms which will help with the transportation of their goods, and ultimately increase the profitability of their farms.
