A 6 year old child has been killed in a freak accident in Málaga, having been run over by a parade float carrying one of the Three Kings through the plaza del General Torrijos.
Eyewitnesses have said that the child was bending over to collect sweets which had been thrown from the float, when the collision occurred.
The parade was briefly halted but resumed a short time later as a city council spokesperson said that the parade could not be stopped due to “technical and safety” reasons, as they feared it could lead to problems with law and order if they did so.
Investigators have been taking statements from witnesses as well as photographing the scene, and the Málaga Provincial Council has announced that there will be two days of mourning, as they send their condolences to the family.
