National Police officers in Zaragoza have arrested a 39 year old dentist, accused of causing injury to one of his patients, after he allegedly removed all of the patient’s teeth following a dispute about payment. The dentist, who has the initials FJGS, allegedly quoted 6,000 euro for the work, but when the price went up, the patient refused to pay, prompting the dentist to attempt to retrieve his work from the mouth of the complainant. The dentist was released after giving a statement, whilst an investigation is carried out.

At least 53 people have been arrested by the Guardia Civil and the Italian authorities in an operation against a criminal organization that allegedly introduced drugs, mainly hashish, into Spain and Italy from Morocco. The authorities seized more than 800 kilos of hashish and seven kilos of cocaine. According to the Guardia Civil, the drugs would be hidden in double bottoms of trucks carrying legal loads. Arrests and searches were carried out in several Italian cities, in the Andalusia provinces of Cádiz, Sevilla, Málaga, Jaén and Córdoba, as well as in Salamanca and Madrid, as well as Barcelona, where they also found an arsenal of weapons and ammunition.

The Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz, has revealed statistics relating to the number of currently open investigations into corruption involving politicians, being carried out by the Spanish law enforcers. There are currently 171 open cases of corruption, 66% of which have started during the tenure of the current Partido Popular government. However, the minister was quick to point out that most of the cases are occurring at provincial level, where three quarters involve actions such as bribery, embezzlement and administrative malfeasance.
