A man died on Wednesday after his boat sank in the waters of Taliarte, off the coast of Telde in Gran Canaria. A call was received by the 112 emergency coordination centre who immediately dispatched rescuers and a helicopter, but there was nothing they could do other than lift the lifeless body of the man aboard the helicopter and take him to the shore, where a medical team confirmed he had died. An investigation and autopsy is being carried out.
A 58 year old man died on Wednesday when he apparently lost control of the truck he was driving, which left the carriageway and plummeted 12 metres onto the railway tracks below of the Madrid to Barcelona high speed train. The Guardia Civil are investigating the reasons why the truck, which was not carrying any cargo at the time, managed to land on the tracks having left the road at one of the principle ring roads of the capital, Madrid. The driver suffered serious, fatal injuries and had to be removed by fire fighters. There were no trains involved in the incident, but there were delays for some time after.
A toddler was hit by a car in Badajóz this week, when he escaped from the hands of his father and ran into the road next to a bus stop. At the same time, a car reversed out of a parking spot, oblivious to the child in its path, and hit collided with him, causing a serious head injury. Emergency crews were quick to the scene and took the child to hospital where he was in a stable condition.
