As Mike Brewer says: “If you want to be a wheeler dealer just like me, keep reading!” TV’s best-known car dealing expert, Mike Brewer, turned his fortunes around by buying two cars at auction for £4,000, applying all his preparation knowledge and then selling them for twice as much.

Now you can do the same as all of Mike’s extensive knowledge of buying and selling cars for more than 30 years is packed into his new book Mike Brewer’s The Wheeler Dealer Know How! The book is being launched at the London Book Fair April 15th-18th 2013 and sells for £16.99, Hardback.

Mike was brought up in south London and was a petrol-head before the term was invented, thanks to his father being a well-known car customiser. He entered the motor trade in his late teens and soon earned a reputation for being sharp but honest. He owned a variety of car dealerships in south west London before launching into his first TV series Deals on Wheels. However, he is best known as the presenter of the hugely successful TV series, Wheeler Dealers, which airs on the Discovery Channel. The programme has a huge following around the world and is responsible for saving some of our best-loved classic cars.

Mike gives lots of advice about preparing a car for sale such as: ‘It doesn’t matter how much work you’ve done on a car, if it doesn’t look the business when a buyer comes to see it you’re already in danger of losing the sale, and that’s not what being a wheeler dealer is all about!’ His tips include: get yourself the right equipment; clean the well area that the spare wheel sits in; give the interior the once-over; spend some time writing a good description of the car; get all the paperwork together, including receipts for any work.

His excellent advice can go a long way to helping you sell a car in Spain. Apart from Facebook pages and links from such sites as the SundayDriversClub.com, always remember that a photo tells at least 1,000 words and without at least one, the likelihood is that your vehicle will be passed by. In Spain, you must also note if your car is LHD or RHD and if on UK or Spanish plates; just for starters. There are many excellent Spanish sites to advertise your car, such as www.AutoScout24.es, where you can place your advert in both languages. Don’t forget, you can also place an advert in your favourite local newspaper: The Leader.
