The magistrate´s court of Almería is investigating the disappearance of 300,000 euro from a current account of the Provincial Delegation of the Environment of Almería, now part of the Delegation of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment.

There are a series of account movements performed between 2009 and 2012 which are “not registered anywhere”, according to government spokesperson Sonia Ferrer, which are “suspected irregular or illegal”, thus prompting the investigation. “The Board has an interest in clarifying the facts and identifying those responsible, so that whoever did it, will pay”, continued Ferrer.

José Manuel Ortiz, the ministerial representative who brought the case, said that the complaint was filed personally for the sake of “transparency”.

According to Ortiz, all the movements in this account are “allegedly criminal”, and hoped that funds from forestry operations, are “reintegrated into the Ministry to be spent on what they should be spent on, reinvestment in public forests“.
