With the presentation of a new additional fully equipped state of the art ambulance presented by the Honorary British Consul Antonio Berdonces to the Alcalde of Mazarron, Gines Campillo.

The money was raised by the expat community over a six year period by a team led by PALS (Protection and Life Saving) and Bahia Lions, and the huge input by Costa Calida Radio and Lions Country club were recognised as very important,.

Some 45100 Euros were raised by various events not least being the annual CAFÉ Concert, (which this year will be 28th September at the Playa Grande) and PALS have advanced the balance to ensure that the vehicle was available before the summer influx of visitors.

The new ambulance will be staffed and administered by Cruz Roja but will be permanently based in Mazarron for the use of the whole community.

PALS are the areas oldest registered ex patriot charity and have since 2000 donated over 188000 Euros worth of life saving equipment to the local emergency teams, such as 112 and FAST and have contributed equipment to local health centres.

In addition PALS together with Costa Calida Radio inspired a one day concert following the Lorca Earthquake and this provided 6400 Euros worth of emergency equipment. The new ambulance therfore brings PALS total of donation involvement to over 250,000Euros.
