The Torrevieja University of the Third Age (U3A) Community Choir was founded on 8 April this year.
A community choir is for all the folks who would love to sing in a choir, but who hesitate at the thought of having an audition. Community Choirs do not ask their members to audition: the belief is that everyone can sing. Plus there is no requirement to read sheet music.
Judith Phillips, our Musical Director, places great emphasis on fun and enjoyment; the choir sings popular songs, all the old favourites, new songs, show songs – you name it – we’ll give it a go. The choir is a friendly and fun-loving community of people with heart, who are always willing to help those who feel a little lost.
There is no pressure on the choir to perform before an audience. Whether or not we perform will be decided democratically by the choir members. If we do decide to perform in public, our performances will be for the benefit of the wider community.
Principal members of the choir are:
Maureen How: Group Leader
Judith Phillips: Musical Director
Wendy Cox: Accompanist
The Choir meets every Monday afternoon at 2.00pm in San Luis, Torrevieja and is already very popular – but new members are always welcome. If you are interested in joining the Torrevieja U3A Community Choir, please have a look at our website www.casatom.com or email Maureen on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Newcomers may download the U3A membership forms from http://www.torreviejau3a.org/joining.htm and bring the completed form along to their first choir practice.
The Choir is open to both men and women. Come and join us, we look forward to meeting you!
