Vueling flight VY-3913 from Palma de Mallorca to Barcelona on the 10th of May had to return to Palma after a “loud bang” was heard from one of the engines, causing a jolt through the aircraft, whilst climbing out of the island airport.
The crew shut down the engine and returned to the airport for a safe landing 15 minutes later.
Vueling confirmed that an aircraft which was on lease from Swiftair had to return to Palma Mallorca due to an engine malfunction.
The original aircraft was a McDonnell Douglas MD-83, registration number EC-LEY, which was replaced by an Airbus A320-200, registration EC-HHA, which reached Barcelona with a 3 hour delay.
