CRASH VICTIM DIES IN HOSPITAL

The most seriously injured person involved in Friday´s crash on the N-332 between Santa Pola and Elche La Marina, the 65 year old driver of the car, has died from his injuries at the Hospital General de Elche.

The man, of Dutch nationality, was driving the in which his wife, his daughter and two granddaughters were also on board, on a family holiday in the area, staying in an apartment in Benidorm.

According to witnesses, the van, which was travelling in the opposite direction, swerved to the left, invading the opposing lane, resulting in the car colliding with it head on.

The victim´s wife and daughter are being treated in the Vinalopó Hospital, whereas the 16 month old baby remains in Alicante hospital, having suffers a severe head trauma, and is said to be in a critical condition.

The 28 year old van driver was taken to the General Hospital of Elche in a serious condition, suffering various contusions and multiple injuries.
