A total of 129 of the highest graded college students in Spain attended a ceremony on Tuesday, where the Minister for Education, José Ignacio Wert, was to present them with the awards of academic merit.

However, in the wake of the ongoing discussions surrounding the reforms that Wert is attempting to implement, the LOMCE reforms, or Wert´s Law as it has become known, around a dozen students flatly refused to accept their award in protest, a similar number did collect theirs, but wearing striking green t-shirts which have become common in recognising opposition to his reforms and one took to the stage to make an impromptu speech demanding “free education for all”.
