The Valencia Government has approved the Plan of Human Resource Management, which includes the regulation of compulsory retirement of physicians at the age 65, with only two exceptions, those professionals that provide “added value” to the health service and those who don´t yet have a substitute for the role they fulfil. The Minister of Health, Manuel Llombart, when asked during a press conference, confirmed the reports that the plan will involve the retirement of about 600 physicians over 65 years of age in the Region.

The municipalities of Benferri, Daya Nueva, Formentera del Segura, Granja de Rocamora, Jacarilla, San Isidro and Rafal will benefit from a grant of 196,029 euro from the provincial government to cover 60% of the cost to the Fire Service. Algorfa, Benejúzar, San Miguel, Los Montesinos, Catral, Cox, Dolores and Redován will get 223,369 euro, or 35% of their bill. Albatera, Almoradí, Callosa del Segura, Guardamar del Segura, and San Fulgencio receive 161,083 to cover 20% of the contribution to Fire Consortium. With the investment, it is hoped it will provide municipalities with greater liquidity and encourage saving.

A 37 year old woman has been arrested by police in Murcia, after the vehicle she was driving was clocked at a radar check point travelling at 123 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone. Officers at the scene reported registering the woman´s Seat Altea car as it drove along a new road near the town of Beniaján earlier this week. Despite statistics for the region stating that only one or two traffic offences of this severity are recorded each year, this is the second of its kind in recent days, after a 19 year old was caught doing 124 kilometres per hour near Alcantarilla.

If there´s one thing that the holiday town of Benidorm has been missing all these years, it must be its very own brand of beer. But if that is a deficiency, then the hole in the desires of visitors and residents has now been filled with the launch of “Serra Gelada”, a 100% handmade beer, low in alcohol content at between 4.5 and 4.8 degrees, made of oats, wheat, barley and rye, with seven different kinds of malt and without flavouring, launched through the hotel and retail consortiums in the town.
