TORREVIEJA AND CHINESE CITY OF HUIZHOU TO TWIN

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon, and Director of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese city of Huizhou, Qiaohui Liu, have signed this morning in a memorandum for the development of trade relations and friendly cooperation as a prelude to a future twinning both cities. The signing ceremony, which was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Huizhou Jinhui Huang, Deputy Provincial Tourism on the Costa Blanca, Joaquín Albaladejo, and the Town Hall of Torrevieja Tourism, Luis Maria Pizana, has developed in the new Office of Tourism Paseo Vista Alegre. The town is located in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, and has similarities to Torrevieja since it has important natural parks, a major tourism.

Both delegations have been able to view videos promoting tourism in both cities, and have initiated in this first contact work to develop in the near future to get to finalize the partnership. Eduardo Dolon has invited representatives of Huizhou to assist in future editions the International Contest of Habanera and Polyphony of Torrevieja, which throughout its history has had the participation of various choirs of the Republic of China, which have had a great performance in the competition. It also seeks also between both cities there is a cultural and economic exchange, plus it can make exchanges between young students and they can live and learn first hand about their cultures.

Notably Huizhou delegation is visiting the tourist product of the Costa Blanca, and have shown great interest in knowing and visit the city of Torrevieja. Have also been interested in the Natural Park of the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja and the salt lakes, so that today they will visit these two emblematic places of the city. Also, yesterday made an aerial tour of the city and the Vega Baja, staying very pleased with this experience.

Finally, note that in Torrevieja are registered nearly 1,000 citizens of Chinese origin, and that since 2007 there Chinese Culture Association and Torrevieja Spain, formed by a group of role models who are doing great work by the culture and integration in Torrevieja, and has as main objectives to promote cultural activities between China and Spain, as well as helping Chinese immigrants integrate into society Torrevieja. This Association has been organizing since its founding Spanish courses for Chinese immigrants residing in the city as well as Chinese Spanish courses.
