Ricky Pow is eager to show his fans just how much he has improved since making the decision to move back to his native Daya Nueva home from the Bristol Boxing Club where he had been working and traing for the last two years.

Having made the decision to train full time the 26 year old could no longer afford the expense of ‘accomodation’ in Bristol and so a move back to his family residence in Torrevieja seemed to be a sensible decision.

Without the income from his employment as a boxing instructor at the Bristol Club the luxury of his own pad’ just had to go as he now concentrates on making a success of a full time boxing career.

And all that stands in the way is the Latvian fighter Arturs Kulikauskis which Ricky hopes to take care of in Daya Nueva next Saturday evening.

The Latvian number one is rated in Europe’s top fifty so a win on Saturday will propel Ricky to a number where promoters and fighters will start to sit up and take notice.

This will be the biggest night of Pow’s 11 fight career against the southpaw Kulikauskis who has been in against some very big names.

Both men have the same number of wins but despite being 4 years Pow’s junior the Latvian fighter has been far the busier of the pair with a total of 30 contests to Pow’s 11, the most recent of which was a narrow defeat to the popular Dean Francis in the West Countryman’s backyard of Bristol.

Three years ago the young Latvian was being touted as one of the hottest properties in Europe when he fought for the WBC Youth Intercontinental cruiserweight title at the age of just 19.

The weigh in for the fight will take place on 5 July at 10pm. It will be held at Barlovento Restaurant in Cabo Cervera, La Mata. The boxing show itself will take place in the Municipal Gym, Daya Nueva, getting underway at 7pm. Ticket prices have been held at 10 and 15 euros. Both the weigh in and the fight will be attended by WBC boxing correspondent James Parry flying over from the UK.
