Officers from the Municipal Police, in collaboration with the Municipal Veterinary Emergency Services, have rescued six dogs in the Cañada Real Galiana area of Madrid, all showing signs of having been abused, with injuries indicating that they could have been used as fighting dogs.

A routine patrol was met by a person who brought an injured Bull Terrier to them, reportedly having found it in a severe state of malnutrition and injured. After an inspection of the area, the officers noticed a pound, attached to an illegal construction, with more than five dogs inside, also with injuries and signs of having been abused or used in dog fighting. In addition, they found that the sanitary conditions of the room in which the animals were confined were very poor.

The investigators found that only one of the dogs had been micro-chipped and are now trying to track down those responsible for the suspected animal abuse and use of the dogs for fighting.
