A new booklet has been released on the Orihuela Costa in English and Castilian publicising details of two new guided tours which began on 1 August in Orihuela City. The pamphlet is being distributed in over 100 tourist and council offices between Alicante and Cartagena.

The Councillor for Tourism, Rosa Martinez, announced details of the two new excursions which will take place throughout the summer. The first is a cultural tour around the Orihuela city museums and monuments which will take place every Monday and Wednesday morning from 10.30 am to 12.30. The second trip takes place a little later in the day, 8pm to 10pm every Tuesday and Thursday when a city guide will take you around a route dramatised by actors from the Municipal Theatre Workshop and local theatrical associations. You will be taken through the central streets of the city from el ardo de Santo Domingo to the Plaza del Carmen.

Both routes will include the tasting of typical products (limón granizado and dulces) at the souvenir shop in front of the Museum of Miguel Hernandez. “The Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning trips will both be presented in English in order that we attract the largest number of visitors” said Martinez.

Reservations can be made by phone at 965 304 645 or by e-mail to orihuelaturistica@orihuela.es or at any tourist information point.

The routes and costs are further explained in the pamphlet of which 18,000 have been published.

Bus pick up and drop off points will be the Montepiedra and La Zenia Hotels as well at Zenia Boulevard. Children under 14 years of age will receive a 50% discount.

Martinez said that the tourist office in the Playa Flamenca Town Hall has had a recent facelift in addition to which a new tourist booth has been established in Zenia Boulevard which will operate for eight hours a day on all seven days of the week
