Local police from Orihuela were called to assist in an unusual occurrence on Thursday, when a sail boat ran aground on the beach at Punta Prima.
The incident occurred at around 2pm, when the 112 emergency coordination centre received a call reporting the incident. The police requested the use of flares by the boat, in order for them to locate the vessel, whilst rescuers on jet skis also attended, as well as a patrol from the maritime rescue service.
The boat was refloated and taken to the port of Cabo Roig.
