POLICE SHOOT ‘AGGRESSIVE’ DOG DEAD

Officers from the local police of San Vicente del Raspeig, shot and killed a Rottweiler dog, after it bit a 40 year old woman and then prevented medics from approaching to treat her wounds.
The incident occurred last Friday at a the woman´s home on Vial de los Holandeses, just outside the Alicante town, where, for reasons under investigation, the animal attacked the woman, causing an injury to her leg.
The local police healthcare teams attended the scene but were prevented from approaching the woman due to a state of “aggression” that the dog was said to have displayed.
In view of the situation, the officers shot the dog, so medics could attend to the wound and take her to the General Hospital of Alicante, where she remained hospitalized until Tuesday, in a “stable but not serious” condition.
Following the incident, it was confirmed that the owner of the Rottweiler has the correct license for possession of a dangerous animals since 2009, as well as liability insurance, which was “in order”, and the method of keeping the dog was correct for the welfare of the animal.
