PROTESTS OVER TORREVIEJA BEACH CLEANLINESS

A number of residents of Torrevieja took to the streets this weekend, to protest over what they described as the “the filthy state Torrevieja beaches”.

Several hundred people gathered and blocked avenida Gregorio Marañón, one of the main coastal roads, before the arrival of the Guardia Civil to disperse them.

Calls and shouts to bring out the Mayor were heard in the commotion, as the state of the streets of the municipality, as well as the failings of the cleaning company, have both been seen to blacken the image of Torrevieja during its busiest season.
