In the second incident in a week, a dog has been shot dead by Guardia Civil officers who attended a home in Agost, in order to issue a summons.
This accident occurred a few days ago when the officers attended a house, but felt threatened by the dog as they waited for somebody to open the door.
Although full details are sketchy, the officers report that given the aggressive attitude that the dog showed, they had no choice but to unsheathe their weapons and then shoot it, in line with procedures and regulations that allow them to protect themselves in circumstances where they feel duly threatened. There were no human injuries reported in the incident.
It is also not known if there was anybody in the home at the time, nor is it clear whether the owner of the dog had appropriate licences for keeping a dog which falls into the official category of a “dangerous” breed.
