The police in Spain have arrested 24 international fugitives in August, wanted in the U.S., UK, Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Norway, Poland, Morocco, Czech Republic and Romania, for crimes relating to sexual assault, robbery and drug trafficking, as well as for fraud, and tax crimes.
Among the fugitives arrested in Spain is a British citizen of 80 years of age, arrested in Mijas in Málaga, accused of sexually assaulting his own granddaughter and who had fled the UK four days after being convicted of two counts of sexual assault and three of sexual activity with a minor.
Similarly, an 85 year old priest was arrested in Tenerife under a European Arrest Warrant for allegedly sexually abusing three altar boys. The incidents occurred in different religious centres and churches in the UK between 1955 and 1991.
A Romanian citizen sought by Britain police was arrested for an crime of sexual assault committed in March 2010 in Northern Ireland.
A Peruvian citizen arrested in Barcelona was wanted by the Norwegian authorities, suspected of violently sexually assaulting another person, and knowing that he was infected with the HIV virus.
Former executive of JPMorgan Chase, Javier Martín-Artajo Rueda , was arrested in Madrid, wanted by the United States for information relating to a 6 billion dollar loss.
Two people were arrested in Benidorm and Torrevieja, one of whom was wanted by German authorities for allegedly appropriating a car valued at 45,000 euro, the other sought by Polish authorities for falsifying documents that enabled him to fraudulently and persistently receive brokering fees for purchase transactions.
Two brothers from Morocco were arrested, wanted for questioning in France, who were engaged in transporting significant quantities of hashish in Spain and France.
With additional arrests in Girona, Alicante, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Ciudad Real and Barcelona, these 24 wanted criminals are now set to face the judicial system in the appropriate countries that were looking for them.
