The crew of a fishing boat named Forneret, which belongs to the Dénia fleet, accidentally captured a 54 kilo loggerhead turtle on Friday, which has been transferred to the Oceanographic centre in Valencia.

The marine environmental protection service of Dénia Town Hall received notification of the incident, immediately enabling their recovery protocol, which is the first time they have auctioned the plan.

Upon the ship´s arrival at the harbour, the turtle was taken to the centre and was said to be in “good condition”.

The turtle is a female loggerhead, “caretta caretta”, and will be returned to the sea once she is fully recovered.
