FLAVORS OF THE ORIENT FILL “THE PLASA”

These cookery classes, take place on the first Saturday of every month from 12:00 pm,

Last Saturday, the Immigration Association ASILA, chaired by María Salazar Nubia took part in the Kitchen La Plasa, in which they demonstrated a variety of dishes of Honduras, Indian and Pakistani cuisine.

These included Honduran favourite “baked stuffed eggplants” as well as “Gulab Jamun”, a traditional Pakistani sweet in which the main ingredients are milk powder and flour, fried in oil.

At the end of the demonstration the students were treated to a tasting which surprised everyone with their flavors and textures as individuals.

Prior to the cookery demonstration, there was a tour around the central market where the various ingredients were selected by the students.

These cookery classes, take place on the first Saturday of every month from 12:00 pm, and they open to everyone: residents and visitors of all ages and nationalities.

The classes allow the students to enjoy the recipes from many different geographical areas of the associations which provide the demonstrations.

La Cocina de La Plasa aims not only to teach cooking, but also to publicise the fresh produce market which can provide the very best ingredients for appetizing and healthy food.
