Near naked animal activists took to the streets of Barcelona on Sunday, protesting for the protection of dolphins and whales.
Spain has more cetaceans in captivity for show use than any other country, so wearing little more than blue body paint and taking up the shape of a “human dolphin”, the SOS group aimed to raise awareness of this matter, as well as the fact that the animals generally only live to a maximum of 20 years of age, whereas it is not unusual for their life expectancy to reach 50 in the wild.
Meanwhile, in a surprise move, a judge in Tarragona has banned bull fighting, resulting in three shows having to be cancelled. So far, the shows planned to take place in Alfara de Carles had been immune from the prohibition in Catalonia, but the decision by the judge is to be appealed.
