On Monday 23rd September Specsavers Opticas became the first optician to collaborate with The Asociación Española de Funcionarios y Amigos Senior (AESFAS) and the Unión Democrática de Pensionistas (UDP). There was a well-attended event at Specsavers in Torrevieja to mark the signing of the agreement with representatives from AESFAS, UDP, Specsavers, Councillors from the Torrevieja Council and local organizations including Age Concern, Lions Club, the Casa Regional de Asturias and Hospital Internacional Medimar de Alicante.

AESFAS is a non-profit making organization which works in conjunction with UDP to improve the quality of life of its members in areas of health, education, finance and more. It is free of charge to join and all members receive a card which entitles them to discounts with partner companies. As the financial crisis continues and retired people are being asked to support their extended families as well as survive on a limited pension, organizations such as these become increasingly important and look to the private sector for support.

Now Specsavers have become an official partner, all AESFAS and UDP members will receive 25€ off all glasses over 75€ across their stores on the Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol and Mallorca. This includes a free eye test, frames and single vision pentax lenses as standard. Members will need to show their card to qualify.

José Manuel Cebrián, Delegado Nacional de Convenios de Aesfas commented, “We are pleased to welcome Specsavers as one of our partners today. As one of the world’s leading opticians, this collaboration shows their awareness of the problems that older people face and we believe that through our long term partnership we can offer lots of benefits to older people.”

Specsavers Opticas’ Retail Development Consultant José Ángel Moral-Tajadura added; “Since 1984 our company has been focused on providing the best possible optical care at affordable prices. The value for money proposition has become more and more important as times get tougher and we are determined that people should not go without good visual care due to not being able to afford it.

Collaborating with organizations such as AESFAS and UDP, who help the over 50s access services they may not have been afford, is a wonderful way to do our bit to make glasses and high quality eye tests and service accessible to all. We look forward to welcoming their members to take advantage of their discount.”
