TORREVEJA U3A STILL GOING STRONG

No, we haven’t gone away or closed down but simply been in relaxed mode for the summer. Many members met in a series of informal summer meetings at the usual meeting venue in June, July, and August for coffee and a chat. This was a good way to keep friendships ongoing and catch up on news – not everyone disappears back to the UK in the hottest months of the year!

Some active people attended beach parties in July at El Mojon and in August at Torre Le Mata. All members and guests were welcomed and it was great fun. The boat trip to Tabarca on 21st September, which included a guided walk around the island, lunch and tea – lovely.

Summer activities over, the U3A reconvenes with its general meeting on the 30th September. It will seem like the return to a new school term. To get us off to an interesting start we have decided to present a ‘Groups Fair’. This will involve displays and information about our groups with encouragement to join. There will be no speaker for this meeting. More information can be obtained about the 40 different groups we have from our web site, www.torreviejau3a.org

Future talks include a traffic policeman from the Guardia Civil, who will hopefully explain where most of us go wrong on roundabouts!! Our Christmas meeting, on the earlier date of 16th December, will be filled with contributions from some of the groups within the U3A, which we are sure will be lots of fun and entertainment for all. Finally, plans are being made for an exciting travel and social diary in 2014, so watch this space.

Everyone is always assured of a warm welcome, so please join us at the CMO building Torrevieja near the Habaneras Commercial Centre. Doors open at 10 am and we hope to see you there. “
