Residents of the Almanzora Valley enjoyed an evening of entertainment with Steve Fisher as Rod Stewart last Friday 20th September in La Parrilla, Albox and raised 939.23 Euros for the ECHR Legal Fund.
The event which was organised by the property rights association, AUAN, was aimed at raising funds to support an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasburg submitted by a couple from Albox who are facing the demolition of their property without prior compensation even though they had planning permission to build their home due to a planning dispute between Albox council and the regional government.
Speaking on behalf of AUAN, its vice president Brian Reade said “We were delighted with the support received. The event was a sell out and it is great to see the community pulling together to support Mr and Mrs Haycock. We are backing the case because we believe that if they win, it helps many others facing similar situations”.
“We aim to raise 5,000 Euros for the Echr Legal Fund with the help of other associations and further activities are planned” he concluded.
Special thanks were given on the night to local businesses: La Parrilla, Total Entertainment, Colin the Card, Smooth FM and Restaurante Club de Tenis for their support.
