This competition from Sept. 21st – 28th was played in the same format as last year, with the Northern clubs playing the earlier rounds at Benitachell and the Southern at Vistabella, with the semi-finalists from each section playing to the Final at Montemar.

There was some fine bowling in all the rounds, and, as last year, the honours were equally shared between the North and the South.

The Triples was an all Northern affairs between Bert Mc. Lean, Tony and Maggie Lawley of Benitachell against Pat Vaughan, Tony James and Charlie Speedie of Finca Guila.

Whilst the earlier ends were closely contested, the Benitachell trio gradually gained control, and, in the end, had a comfortable win.
This was not the case in the Fours Final where the team of Jo and Jules Pering, with Val And Chris Collier of San Miguel, were equally matched against Colin Jackson, Colin Lindgren with June and Keith Jones of San Luis.

Every end was closely contested, and there was never more than a few points separating them until the final end, where the San Luis four tried their best to overcome the small difference, but, to no avail, as the San Miguel four hung on to clinch the title.

Many thanks to all the venue clubs for allowing the use of their greens, the Umpires for showing their usual efficiency, and for the Organisers to ensure that everything went smoothly.

Next year these Championships will return to the normal two week period, with increased disciplines, and, with the newly introduced Valencian Federation membership of €15, it is hoped to increase the number of members, who will join the Federation, specifically to play in this type of competition.
