Regretfully the standard stolen from the bearer’s car has not been found so the decision was taken by the committee to purchase a new one. This has now been ordered and should be with us before the Remembrance Service, where it will be formally dedicated.

Remembrance-Tide started on October 14 and Poppy Collections will be starting at various market locations as from 22 October so please give generously if you see one of our collectors. All monies raised go to help British serving and ex-service personnel and their families, both in the UK and here in Spain. If you can help by being a collector please contact any member of the RBL committee.

Advance Notice for December

Saturday 14 December – Christmas Dinner and Dance La Parrilla, starting 19:00 – theme is Black and White, Music by J&J Music. Tickets for the dinner and dance will be required in advance and are on sale now either at Albox RBL meetings or from Bob Cowan on rcowan25@gmail.com or 608049490. Menu choice is available at the time of booking.

Albox Events for October/November

Thursday 17 October – Monthly meeting at La Parrilla starting at 11:00. As the advertised speaker is now unavailable the talk will now be “Tales from the Family Crypt – an overview of ancestry research”. Usual stalls will be there, as will the Albox Travel Club in case members need to pay for their Christmas trip to Nerja.

Thursday 24 October – Bowling at Amigos a joint venture with Zurgena branch, the events both start at 12.30, lunch is available. For further details please contact Steven Mold, stevepat2006@gmail.com. The cost is €11 to include shoe hire, 2 games and lunch.

Monday 4 November – Quiz Night at Bar Lepanto, starting 20:30 prompt. There are good prizes to be won; the actual value depends on the number of players. A proportion of the income goes to the Poppy Appeal. There is a points adjustment for the size of team. The cost is €2 per person.

Thursday 7 November – Coffee morning at La Parrilla starting at 10:30, usual stalls, including the Poppy Stall with cards and gifts ready for Christmas.

Monday 11 November – Armistice Service at the Chapel in La Aljambra, gathering at 10:15 for a prompt 10:30 start. Light refreshments will be available immediately after the service. Following the Service there will a Menu del Dia lunch at La Parrilla Restaurant starting at 13:00 at €10 per person. Tickets for the lunch will be required in advance and are on sale now either at Albox RBL meetings or from Bob Cowan on rcowan25@gmail.com or 608049490.
