“THOR: THE DARK WORLD” SMASHES BOX OFFICES WITH $45 MILLION OPENING SALES
Walt Disney Pictures has now achieved nearly $2.314 billion in international sales for the 2013 following the release of Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: The Dark World’ which is due to open in North America next Friday. This smashes the studio’s previous record of $2.302 billion which it set in 2010.
The film has not yet to open in Argentina, Italy, China or Japan, but early ticket sales have already shown unexpected results over the last few days. By the close of business on Friday, 01 November 2013, international sales figures were as follows:

Rated (PG-13), ‘Thor: The Dark World’, the movie shows Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, embarking on his most perilous and personal journey yet. Also starring are Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman.
“Thor: The Dark World” is a 2013 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Thor. Directed by Alan Taylor and with the screenplay by Christopher Yost, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film is the second in the series. As well as Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston in the starring roles, the film also features Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins, together with newcomers Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Zachary Levi and Clive Russell.
Tom Hiddleston has revealed that never “in his wildest dreams” did he expect that his character in Thor would prove to be as popular as it has been and confirmed that Loki is one of his favourite ever roles.
