PAUL HOLLYWOOD: THAT AFFAIR WAS THE “BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE AND I REGRET IT”

Paul Hollywood, of the TV show Great British Bake-Off, has described his affair with Marcela Valladolid, his American co-host, as the ‘biggest mistake’ of his life.

The announcement came during his interview on the Jonathan Ross Show.

Paul Hollywood then went on to declare then goes on to declare his love for wife Alexandra and says that they are currently working on getting their marriage back on track.

The declaration comes just days after reports that wife Alexandra has consulted the divorce lawyers and, ultimately, it will be up to Alexandra to decide the outcome.

The pair were married for 15 years before his infidelity and they have a ten-year-old son together called Josh.

"We’re just going to take things one step at a time, but I still love her and that’s ultimately what it is," Hollywood said as he changed the subject of the conversation to Ruby Tandoh, one of the contestants on this year’s show.

Born in 1966, Hollywood shot to fame almost overnight, when he joined Mary Berry on the judging panel of The Great British Bake Off. There was no way he could have prepared for all the attention, he said. "It seemed to happen so quickly. It shocked me. I thought, ‘Who cares about me? I don’t understand.’ I had no idea what would happen. I thought we’d probably get two series out of it. The leapfrogging of the figures was just staggering."
