The Albox Branch of The Royal British Legion is holding its annual Christmas Bazaar on Friday 6th December this year instead of the usual Thursday. This is to avoid a clash with other organisations that cannot hold their usual Friday meetings due to it being a ‘Red Day’. Another thing that is different is that due to local businesses feeling the pinch at the moment instead of approaching them for donations for the Tombola stall the Branch will be relying on donations from members and the public.

Chairman Peter Phillips said “when we approached local businesses as usual for our last bazaar we were being told that they now have in the region of 15 charities calling on them for donations. This is not fair when they are already feeling the pinch financially, so we as a Branch have taken the decision to ask our 197 members to dig deep and donate something for the tombola stall, all proceeds from which go directly to the Poppy Appeal. We can only accept new items and are also happy to receive donations from non-members”

The bazaar will be at the usual venue of La Parrilla Hotel & Restaurant in Albox main Square starting at 10.30 a.m.

Stalls for this event, which should be even busier than usual due to it being a ‘Red Day’ with everything else shut, are available for only 5 € by contacting the Social Secretary Bob Cowan on 608049490 or email rcowan25@gmail,com

The next social event Also for your calendar is the Albox Branch Christmas Dinner Dance. This year’s theme is ‘Black & White’ with music by J&J Music. This is at the same venue on the 14th December starting at 7.00 p.m. with food served at 7.30 consisting of 3 course meal with some drinks (select on booking) – Starter – vegetable soup or platter seron ham& cheeses – Main – chicken fillet, pork fillet or salmon – Sweet – tiramisu – coffee. Tickets cost just 20 € for members and 22 € for non-members and may be collected at any of the Branch meetings or from Bob Cowan as above.

If you want more details on this or any other social functions or want to become a member (you don’t need to be ex-forces to join) go along to one of the meetings on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month at La Parrilla Hotel & Restaurant in the Main Square in Albox or contact the Chairman Peter Phillips on 693483392 email: peatpee@sky.com or visit the web site at www.britishlegion.org.uk/branches/albox.
