I’M A CELEBRITY LAUNCH HITS A RECORD HIGH

I’m A Celebrity…Get me Out of Here! series 13 burst back onto screens last night with a record breaking audience of 12 million viewers – the highest launch audience figure in the show’s history.

The audience peaked with an incredible 12.9 million viewers/a 48% share of viewing.

The I’m a Celebrity… launch is the highest live overnight audience of the year, after the Wimbledon Final (12.1 million viewers).

This year’s launch audience was up by 1.4 million viewers on last year’s launch audience, and it eclipsed the previous highest launch of 11.8 million in 2011.

Between 7pm and 10.30pm ITV had an average audience of 9.7 million viewers, making it the most watched channel in primetime – 4.6 million viewers ahead of the next nearest channel.

Peter Fincham, Director of Television at ITV said, “A peak audience of nearly 13 million viewers in its 13th series is fantastic, a real testament to the continuing power of this brilliant show. “
