CHRISTMAS FUN DAY
It was a truly amazing Christmas Fun Day at the Marina Bar Torrevieja last Saturday the 16th November with over 1000 Euros being raised for the local charity “Reach Out” which surpassed last year’s total.
The response and support was overwhelming and the organisers, David and Lorraine Whitney volunteers with “Reach Out” were so pleased with this tremendous turn out. There were stalls selling cakes, cosmetics, bric-a-brac, jewellery etc. plus Tombola, raffle and a mini auction and a fashion show, even Santa himself called to hand presents to the children.
Karolina Leonard, founder of “Reach Out” gave a short speech after a rousing interlude of Christmas Carols , to highlight the plight of the poor and homeless in the area. As usual Dave and Rita Monaghan, of the Marina Bar gave their wonderful support as well as a donation of 200 Euros. A gesture of true kindness. People already have asked if the event will take place again next year and the answer to that is a most definite yes!
Our photo shows Lorraine Whitney, organiser and volunteer of “Reach Out” resting a while in the lap of Santa who bore an uncanny resemblance to another “Reach Out” volunteer John Thompson.
