ENGLISH FILMS IN PILAR

There were about 90 people attending the meeting held on 5th December in Pilar Cinema. The outcome of the meeting was that everyone agreed that an Association should be formed to show English films.

Traditional 35 mm films are no longer made and to show the films in the new format would require a digital projector costing €35,000-€50,000 which they cannot afford at the moment. It is planned to show films by projecting DVDs using a digital projector which can be rented for €600 per month.

Unfortunately you cannot sell tickets when showing a DVD film as this is forbidden. Other costs would include hiring the films which would amount to €1,000 per month, cost for lighting, cleaning etc of €400 per month making a monthly cost in total of €2,000 per month. Therefore it is necessary to have at least 200 people joining the Association at a cost of €10 per month which would give the person entrance to the cinema free for four weeks. Each person in the Association would have to commit for nine months.

What days you would like to have films shown, bearing in mind that it can only be Monday to Friday. Please put as the subject of the e-mail ´Cinema Club – English films´. So far 86 people have shown interest and it is hoped that there will be enough interest to get this project off the ground early in the new year.
