The Children’s Parade in Torrevieja was a day of magic and fun for the hundreds of children on Saturday who lined the city streets filled with dozens of fairy tale characters
One of the city’s most eagerly awaited parades in honour of the Immaculate Conception was scheduled to take place a week ago but it was moved because of the inclement weather. Eagerly awaited by the children it finally went ahead supported by local theatre groups, dance academies and dozens of characters including many of the heroes and villains from Disney and other from animated films.
Despite being slightly smaller than in recent years it was still enjoyed by thousands of tourists and their children who were in Torrevieja to enjoy the holiday weekend.
The Academy María del Ángel tokk part in the parade with clowns, entertainers, Aladdin, Snow White, Mini the Minx and the Seven Dwarfs; the Academy María Dolores Morales provided the fantasy of the Wizard of Oz, Maria Gimenez with the Toy Story dolls; the Municipal School of Dance with scenes from Cats the musical, the Paya’s academy with Peter Pan and Wendy, bells, pirates and Indians, and Blondy Creative with Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. There was also a float carrying the Disney Castle with the giants and big heads trailing along at the end of the long-established parade.
Following the procession the festivities continued with a Mass in the church of the Immaculate Conception.
