Valencia in top 3 of Christmas spending
The population of Valencia will be spending an extra 490 euro this Christmas, while in the whole of Spain this figure averages at 455 euro, 59 euro less than in 2012, according to an independent consumer group.
The population of Madrid is set to spend an extra 540 euro and Catalonia an additional 510, both of these areas being the only two to exceed Valencia. In the Basque Country the extra spend is 480 and Navarra and the Balearic Islands will shell out an extra 475 euro.
As we work our way down the line, in the Canary Islands are in the cheap seats, spending just 390 euro extra on their celebrations, slightly ahead of Extremadura at 392, Andalusia at 410, Galicia is 428, Aragon 435, Castilla y León 440, Castilla-La Mancha and La Rioja 445 euro, Asturias and Cantabria 455 and Murcia will be spending an extra 470 euro.
The Federation has advised consumers to plan purchases and calculate expenses based on the budget and comparing value, as well as buying “just enough”.
