The European Commission has issued a warning this week about the increasing the number of workers at risk of poverty registered in the EU in 2013, due to the expansion of temporary contracts and wage decreases.

This is one of the main conclusions of the third annual report on the social and employment situation in the European Union for 2013, released by the EU executive.

According to data, a quarter of the European population is now at risk of poverty or social exclusion, and between population groups affected, the largest increase has occurred among the unemployed, according to a statement.
