East Midlands Airport: More than 77,000 set to jet off during half-term week
MORE than 77,000 passengers are set to jet off from East Midlands Airport this week.
Destinations such as Tenerife, Malaga and Lanzarote are the top choices for jetsetters – and temperatures in south Spain and the Canaries will hit 20c this week, compared with 12c in Nottingham.
Rounding out the top five destinations are Dublin and Alicante and Sunday was the busiest day for East Midlands Airport.
Andy Cliffe, Managing Director East Midlands Airport, said the predicted number of passengers over the week was 77,800 – a 2.5 per cent increase on the same time last year.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the £12 million terminal redevelopment has been completed which includes a Castle Rock Taproom and Kitchen.
Colin Wilde, Managing Director at Castle Rock Brewery said: “For us to see our locally brewed Harvest Pale on sale in the departure area at East Midlands Airport, the region’s leading international venue, gives us a feeling of great pride.
“More importantly, perhaps, it gives our international visitors a reminder of all that is good about East Midlands food and drink giving them an incentive to return.”
