Officers from the National Police have arrested a 30 year old man in Rojales, who is already known to the police for a series of crimes, allegedly for fraudulently selling cars online and conning innocent victims out of a total of 3,000 euro.
According to police, the man would advertise the vehicles for sale, and upon receiving a genuine enquiry would request a nominal deposit of between 200 and 400 euro to secure the car.
One victim who had been conned in this way reported the facts to the police in Orihuela, who investigated what had happened and discovered at least seven victims of the scam. These victims were mostly foreigners and lived in various parts of Spain.
The officers tracked down the man in Rojales and performed the arrest, with the investigation still open, the officers not ruling out finding more victims.
