REMOVAL OF MOTORWAY TOLL MAY SOON BE A REALITY

Information released by government sources over the weekend suggest that on Monday, the Ministry of Development will announce that the tolls on the AP-7 motorway will be removed, albeit not for another five years.

However, the current discussions relate to the province of Castellón, where high accident rates affect the N-340 road there, but this argument is the same for the N-332 on the Orihuela Costa. Therefore, if the move is approved for one stretch of the highway, it must also expand to others.

A meeting has been scheduled for Monday with the delegate of the Castellón government, David Barelles, with those affected by the road, with the announcement expected that the concession for operating the motorway will “not be renewed” when it expires on the 31st of December, 2019.

However, one obvious downside on the Orihuela Costa, should the tolls be lifted, will be an increase in traffic on the road that links the N-332 to the motorway, in the direction of Villamartin, where recent calls to tackle an already increased flow on that road have been made by local residents.
