Temperatures in the city of Valencia peaked at 33 degrees centigrade on Saturday, the highest temperature on record for April since 1980, according to the national meteorological office, AEMET.
Other top temperatures were recorded in Orihuela, at 30 degrees, the coastal towns of Oliva and Jávea reached 29 degrees, and in Alicante and Castellón the temperatures peaked at 26 degrees, the same temperature anticipated for Torrevieja.
Temperatures are expected to dip on Sunday throughout the region, although coastal zones are still expected to be hot.
