Agents of the National Police in Elda (Alicante) have broken up a family clan that was allegedly involved in drug trafficking – cocaine, marijuana and hashish – from a lab in a luxury villa in the Alicante town of Sax.
Raids on the property resulted in the arrest of nine people, four men and five women, last Tuesday morning.
Prior investigations carried out by the police discovered the unit, led by the head of the family, containing a cocaine laboratory in the villa for manufacturing, cutting and the distribution of narcotics.
The operational phase of the investigation began in March, following the arrest of a prostitute who was engaged in the distribution and sale of cocaine in several brothels in the Alicante province.
Subsequently, several police surveillance exercises were carried out to identify the members of the gang, resulting in the arrest of three women and five men in Alicante, Elda and Sax. Following those initial arrests, 167 grams of cocaine, 137 grams of marijuana and 62 grams of hashish, a 9mm pistol and 28,655 euros in cash were seized along with jewelry gold, three luxury cars, and a motorcycle.
Police also found and dismantled a cocaine lab.
Police said those arrested are considered mid-level traffickers, each with clearly defined tasks. The group used heavy security and extremely high powered cars to ensure that they were not monitored or intercepted by the police
