ALICANTE CONFIRMS MORE CRUISES IN 2015

Following the successful launch of their Easter campaign, the company which manages the port of Alicante, Costablanca Portuaria, has announced confirmation of an increase in ships and passengers for the 2015 season.

There will now be at least 47 cruise liners visiting Alicante next year, adding 10,243 potential visitors to the 75,281 already confirmed. With the 85,524 passengers that the harbour will welcome, the figure is 36,803 more than this year and 43,663 more than 2013.

With some of the leaders in the cruise industry now trusting Alicante, the city will see ships from the likes of Pullmantur, P&O, Holland America, AIDA, Majestic International, MSC Cruceros y Celebrity) se han unido Thomson, Saga, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Delphin Seereisen, Phoenix Serein and Sea Cloud Cruises all docked at the harbour.

Of the 47 ships to visit, 10 of them are large scale vessels, with a capacity of more than 3,000 passengers, including the Ventura, with her 3,300 passengers on board, and Britannia, with her 4,372 passenger capacity, a ship due to enter into service in 2015.

Britannia was built at the Fincantieri yard in Monfalcone, Italy and ceremonially launched on the 14th of February, 2014. On board, Britannia has 13 bars as well as 13 restaurants and cafés, and 1,837 cabins, of which 27 are single. With her 15 passenger decks and crew of 1,350, the 3,647 passengers will be looked after by Captain Paul Brown, with her Maiden voyage planned to take place between 14 – 28 March 2015, taking in Spain, Italy and France.
