EIGHTEEN NEW OFFICERS TO REINFORCE SANTA POLA’S LOCAL POLICE

The ceremony was attended by the Santa Pola Mayor, Miguel Zaragoza, as well as Local police Chief Jose Miguel Zaragoza

A total of 18 new officers (15 men and 3 women) were sworn in, or promised positions as an interim officer, in the Santa Pola Policia Local last week.

With the floating population of the town expected to rise beyond 150,000 residents during the summer months new agents are required to strengthen the force said the Councillor for Public Safety, Antonio Perez Huerta, at their inauguration on Monday.

The ceremony was attended by the Santa Pola Mayor, Miguel Zaragoza, as well as Local police Chief Jose Miguel Zaragoza, a number of other members of the city council and serving police officers.

Zaragoza welcomed the new officers and asked that, in the performance of their duties “they show the greatest respect for members of the public, as they are the face of the municipality and, often, the first point of contact”.

He said that “if as citizens, we worry about our neighbors, this concern is multiplied when you are acting as a member of the police force. There will be situations of stress and risk, so I ask your more experienced colleagues, many who have chosen to be here today, to provide you with their support.”

The Mayor also welcomed Local Police Officer Israel González Martínez back to the force. He began his professional career in 2005 as a trainee and earned his permanent position in 2008, since which has been continually training. During the period Gonzalez has won numerous awards and he is currently pursuing degrees in Law and Criminology at the University of Murcia. He is also a member of the IVASPE combat drugs team.
